Passover and feast-day menus

Exodus 12:8–9 specifies lamb roasted with fire, unleavened bread and bitter herbs. Exodus 12:15–20 addresses removing leaven. Oven-roasted boneless lamb is an optional modern feast-day meal, not a fulfillment of those lamb instructions. Charoset is a later optional tradition. Other sides and beverages are optional menu choices. Cornbread and cakes containing baking powder, baking soda or leavened mixes are excluded from the Passover collection.

Read Exodus 12 ↗

For a family feast, choose one reviewed roast, potatoes or carrots, a cold salad, and a nonalcoholic drink. Adjust each recipe’s servings individually; use multiple base-size batches for larger groups. Do not multiply cooking times. Use unleavened bread when required by your observance.

    Prepare before Friday sunset

Sabbath runs from Friday sunset to Saturday sunset. Use a verified sunset time for your own location; use the location-based sunset estimate in Today’s Kingdom Dinner, and confirm it against local conditions.

    1. Earlier in the week: choose cold-ready meals, check labels and shop.
    2. Friday, with plenty of time before your local sunset: finish cooking, then chill perishables promptly in shallow containers.
    3. Before sunset: confirm the refrigerator is at or below 40°F (4°C), cover and label meals, and set out serving equipment.
    4. During Sabbath: serve prepared meals cold in small portions and keep remaining food refrigerated.

Keep perishables at 40°F (4°C) or below. Refrigerate in shallow containers within 2 hours of cooking or serving, or within 1 hour above 90°F (32°C). Discard food that exceeds these limits; smell and appearance cannot establish safety.

Kids in the kitchen: an adult must supervise knives, heat, appliances and food handling.

All collections are available as filters. Visit Kingdom Drink Lab for nonalcoholic drinks and a separately labeled 21+ alcoholic collection. Collections without a reviewed recipe show an honest empty result. Account favorites, shopping lists, PDFs, recipe ratings and daily dinner menus are available. Verified YouTube tutorials, process photographs and more recipes remain in development.
